Downey & Lenkov is thrilled to announce the elevation of Kirsten Kaiser Kus and Michael Milstein to Capital Members. They are joining Jeanne Hoffmann, Storrs Downey and Rich Lenkov, who have proudly led the firm together for over 20 years.
Kirsten joined the firm in 2014, becoming an Income Member in 2017. Kirsten concentrates her practice in workers’ compensation and general liability defense, representing a wide variety of employers and corporations across Indiana. She frequently lends her expertise and lectures on unique claim handling techniques for the Workers’ Compensation Defense Institute and Claims and Litigation Management Alliance, among other leading organizations. Her recent accomplishments include winning CLM’s Professional of the Year Award in the Outside Defense Counsel category in 2021 and being recognized by her peers in the 28th Edition of Best Lawyers in America, ranked among the top 5% of private practice attorneys nationwide. Outside of work, Kirsten enjoys traveling, hiking with her family and dogs, attending concerts and cheering on her beloved Green Bay Packers.

Michael joined the firm in 2011, becoming Income Member in 2017. Michael concentrates his practice in workers’ compensation defense, seamlessly guiding clients through all phases of complex litigation matters from inception to trial. He has been a valuable resource, actively providing clients Illinois legislative update alerts throughout the pandemic. Michael has also presented numerous times for The Risk Management Society, WorkCompCentral and the Illinois State Bar Association. Michael has been selected to both the Illinois Super Lawyers Rising Stars and Leading Lawyers Emerging Lawyers lists for the last eight years, recognizing no more than 2.5% of Illinois lawyers. Outside of work, Michael enjoys playing with his children, rooting on the Cubs, Bulls, Bears, Blackhawks, and Illini sports teams, and taking an active role in his community.
